Impact of Israeli Military Actions on Southern Lebanon's Villages

As part of its military operations in southern Lebanon, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have reportedly destroyed numerous villages, primarily inhabited by Shia Muslims. Displaced individuals, such as Zeinab Ahmed, report being forced out of their homes due to threats against their Christian neighbors. The ongoing military presence complicates daily life, as residents risk encounters with Israeli forces while attempting to maintain essential services, such as water supply. Mohammed Hassan Al-Hajj, a municipal council member in Kfarchouba, recounts a detention by Israeli soldiers while performing maintenance on a water pumping station. The IDF justified the detention based on security concerns. The situation remains precarious for those who have chosen to stay, as they navigate the challenges posed by the military occupation. In Qlayaa, a memorial service was held for three victims of an Israeli strike, highlighting the human toll of the conflict. Family members expressed grief and sought answers regarding the circumstances of the deaths. While the family blames the IDF for the strikes, they also agree on the need for disarmament of Hezbollah.
