In one message from May 2025, Flynn allegedly expressed a wish to kill Ashley without consequences.</p><p>Botner testified that Flynn had mentioned staying up late thinking about ways to kill Ashley without being caught. In the hours leading up to Ashley's death, Flynn allegedly communicated with Botner, indicating that something significant was about to happen.</p><p>Flynn's defense argued that the prosecution did not provide sufficient evidence to prove he killed Ashley, highlighting the absence of the murder weapon, eyewitnesses, and gunshot residue, while suggesting that investigators acted hastily in their conclusions.</p><p>Jurors received the case after closing arguments and instructions from Judge Jeannine N.
