Delta Airlines has issued a statement regarding an incident involving actress Selma Blair during a flight on October 11. According to reports, Blair allegedly punched one flight attendant and bit another on Delta flight 938 from Los Angeles (LAX) to New York City (JFK). A spokesperson for Delta stated, "Delta has zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behavior, as the safety of our customers and crew always comes first." The airline confirmed that there was no operational impact to the flight, which landed ahead of schedule at JFK, and that law enforcement was present upon arrival. Delta has deferred further comments to local law enforcement.
A representative for Blair stated that she experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct and that she received immediate medical attention upon landing. Blair, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2018, is currently in stable condition. Reports indicate that two flight attendants sustained injuries, with one being taken to the hospital.
Blair was reportedly charged with two counts of assault for kicking a police officer and attacking a nurse while being transported to the hospital. Sources confirm that she had a service dog with her during the flight.
This incident is not the first for Blair; in June 2016, she was removed from a flight after allegedly mixing medication with alcohol. In her 2022 memoir, she mentioned a past habit of biting other celebrities, including Kate Moss and Sienna Miller.
