Authorities in Toledo, Ohio, are searching for multiple suspects following a shooting that occurred during the Old West End Festival on Saturday evening, injuring 12 people, including two critically. The incident took place around 5:30 p.m. as gunfire erupted near the festival, which was attended by several hundred people. Toledo Deputy Police Chief Joe Hefferman indicated that at least two individuals exchanged gunfire.
As of Sunday morning, no arrests had been made, and police are asking attendees to share any photos or videos that could assist in identifying the suspects. The victims, aged between 14 and 61, mostly in their early 20s, suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening, except for the two individuals in critical condition. Emergency services transported the injured to hospitals despite traffic challenges caused by the festival.
Witnesses reported scenes of panic as attendees sought cover and helped the wounded. Ohio Governor Mike DeWine expressed his concern over the incident, emphasizing that summer festivals should be safe for families. Following the shooting, the Old West End Association canceled the remaining festival activities, stating it would not be responsible to continue the event under the circumstances.
