Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei stated on Saturday that revenge for his father's assassination will be executed. This announcement followed the burial ceremony for his father, former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. During the weeklong funeral, there were significant public calls for the death of former President Donald Trump.
Mojtaba Khamenei, who was injured in the attack that killed his father and did not appear publicly during the funeral, did not specifically mention Trump in his statement. However, U.S. and Israeli officials reported that Iran had discussed the possibility of assassinating Trump.
In a message on his Telegram channel, Khamenei vowed to avenge the deaths of those killed in the attacks, stating, "This revenge is the demand of our nation, and it will most certainly be carried out." He emphasized that the responsibility for this revenge does not depend on his presence or that of any other official, asserting that it will be accomplished regardless of his fate.
In response, Trump addressed the Iranian threats on his Truth Social account, stating that the U.S. military is prepared to respond with significant force if Iran acts on its threats. He mentioned that missiles are aimed at Iran and that he has given orders to the military to target areas in Iran for a year, subject to extension.
