Paul Pelosi, the husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, has been charged with a misdemeanor hit-and-run after allegedly striking a parked vehicle and leaving the scene in Napa County, California. The incident occurred on July 3, when Pelosi, 86, reportedly hit an unoccupied vehicle parked along the side of a road in Yountville, causing significant rear-end damage.
The Napa County Sheriff’s Office stated that Pelosi was not arrested and did not have alcohol in his system, but admitted to deputies that he had 'hit something.' He continued driving until his vehicle became disabled and could no longer operate. Witnesses called 911 after observing the crash, and deputies located Pelosi approximately a quarter-mile from the scene with considerable damage to his vehicle.
Napa County District Attorney Allison Haley announced that Pelosi has also been cited for making an unlawful turn, classified as an infraction. The district attorney’s office noted that press releases for misdemeanor hit-and-run cases involving only property damage are not typically issued, but an exception was made due to the public and media interest in this case. At the time of the incident, Pelosi was driving a 2025 Maserati GranCabrio convertible. He is scheduled to appear in court on August 14. A spokesperson for the Pelosi family indicated that Mr. Pelosi has apologized to the owner of the damaged vehicle and assured them he would take responsibility.
