U.S. Military Discovers Remains of Service Member After Missile Attack in Jordan

U.S. forces reported on Sunday that they discovered the remains of an unidentified service member near the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, where two American troops were killed in an Iranian missile attack. This incident raises the total number of U.S. service members killed in the ongoing conflict to 18. U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) also announced that another service member was killed on Saturday in northern Iraq during a controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian drone. At least two Iranian ballistic missiles struck the air base on Friday, which is home to U.S. troops and fighter jets. CENTCOM stated that the remains were found following a thorough search and that verification of the remains is currently underway. Additionally, a second service member was reported wounded and received medical treatment for a minor injury. CENTCOM is withholding further information, including the identities of the deceased and missing service members, to respect the families during the notification process.
