Rep. Nancy Mace Withdraws from South Carolina Senate Race

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) announced on Monday that she will not run for the U.S. Senate seat previously held by Lindsey Graham, ahead of South Carolina's filing deadline. Mace had considered entering the race following Graham's unexpected death last week but has decided to focus on her current advocacy work. In a video statement, she emphasized her commitment to advocating for stronger protections for women, stating, "The laws meant to protect me and other women failed us, and I won’t stop until that changes." Mace thanked her supporters and expressed her intention to continue representing South Carolina's values. Her decision narrows the Republican candidates to include Sen. Darline Graham Nordone, Reps. Ralph Norman, and Russell Fry. Graham Nordone, who was appointed to temporarily fill her brother's seat, confirmed her candidacy for a full term and has received support from former President Donald Trump. Memorial services for Graham are scheduled to begin on July 28 in Washington, D.C.
