The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said Tuesday that a new ransom message purportedly linked to the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie was not credible. The department and the FBI had said Monday they were reviewing the message as part of their investigation in the Tucson, Arizona, area.
The department’s FBI Guthrie Task Force said on X that it had recently learned of a possible ransom note and was examining related social-media comments to assess its credibility, according to the New York Post. Authorities did not disclose when the message was sent, its recipient or its contents. Guthrie, 84, is the mother of Today co-host Savannah Guthrie and disappeared from her home outside Tucson nearly eight months ago, the Washington Examiner reported.
