A new NBC News/Telemundo poll released Oct. 4 found that 27% of Latino voters approved of President Donald Trump’s performance, while 69% disapproved, as the 2026 midterm elections approach.

The survey of 800 registered Latino voters nationwide, conducted Sept. 21-28, found that about two-thirds said the administration’s deportation policies had gone too far. It also found that 75% disapproved of Trump’s handling of the economy and cost of living. The Hill reported that nearly six in 10 respondents disapproved of his handling of border security.

NBC News said Latino voters had helped Trump return to the White House in 2024, but the new results show voters moving away from him and Republicans. The outlet said the shift could create opportunities for Democrats in states and districts with sizable Latino populations.
