President Donald Trump is scheduled to campaign Tuesday in Corpus Christi and Lubbock, Texas, with Republican Senate nominee Ken Paxton as the state’s Senate race remains closely contested ahead of Election Day.

Fox News reported that Trump’s visit comes one week before the election, with early voting underway. Its poll found Paxton tied with Democratic state Rep. James Talarico. Axios reported that former football players Johnny Manziel, Colt McCoy and Danny Amendola will join Trump at the Texas appearances. Trump carried Texas by nearly 14 percentage points two years ago, according to Fox News.

The Texas trip is part of Trump’s campaign travel for Republican candidates before the midterms. Axios reported that Republicans are seeking to increase turnout among voters who backed Trump in 2024.
