Representative Ralph Norman (R-SC) announced on Saturday his intention to run for the Senate seat previously held by Lindsey Graham in the upcoming South Carolina special election. Norman stated, "For years, Senator Lindsey Graham fought hard to save America and defend South Carolina. Now, President Trump needs another proven America First conservative in the US Senate to deliver on those America First priorities." He expressed his desire to pass the SAVE America Act in the Senate.
Lindsey Graham passed away last weekend due to a tear in his artery, as reported by preliminary findings from a medical examiner. Following his death, Graham’s sister, Darline Graham Nordone, was appointed to fill his seat until January 2027. Graham had been set to face Democratic nominee Dr. Annie Andrews in the November election.
Norman is the first candidate to announce his run for the Senate seat, having previously participated in the South Carolina governor’s primary earlier this year. Other potential candidates, including Representatives Nancy Mace and Russell Fry, are also considering entering the race. Fry mentioned in a social media post that his family is facing a significant decision regarding the election.
President Donald Trump has endorsed Darline Graham Nordone for a full Senate term, expressing his support for her candidacy in the special election. Nordone has not yet confirmed whether she will run in the upcoming election.
