Graham passed away the previous weekend due to a tear in his artery, as reported by a medical examiner. Following his death, his sister, Darline Graham Nordone, was appointed to fill his seat until January 2027. Graham had been the Republican nominee and was set to face Democratic nominee Dr. Annie Andrews in the November election. His unexpected death has prompted South Carolina Republicans to seek candidates for the special primary election scheduled for August 11.
Norman is the first candidate to announce his run for the Senate seat. Other potential candidates include Representatives Nancy Mace and Russell Fry, who are considering entering the race. Fry mentioned on social media that his family is facing a significant decision regarding his candidacy.
