Jaguar this week publicly unveiled its Type 01 electric car in New York, presenting the model as part of its shift to an all-electric lineup and a higher-priced market position.

The Type 01 is expected to start at about £120,000, according to the Daily Mail, which reported it has more than 1,000 horsepower, 23-inch wheels and a stated real-world range of 400 miles. The outlet said Jaguar plans to sell fewer vehicles at higher prices. The BBC reported that the design has drawn mixed reactions.

JLR has invested billions in remaking Jaguar, the BBC reported. It also said the company plans to cut 4,000 jobs amid Chinese competition, US tariffs and the transition to electric vehicles. University of Birmingham professor David Bailey told the BBC the launch was “make or break” for the brand.
