<p>Minnesota authorities reported on September 2, 2026, that one person was killed and six others injured, including two police officers, following a shooting in downtown Minneapolis.</p>
<p>The incident occurred near 15 E. Grant St., the location of Loring Towers, a high-rise apartment building. The response focused on the eighth floor of the complex, where officers armed with long guns monitored the situation for an extended period. Two heavily armored SWAT vehicles were positioned at the intersection, and ambulances were present in the area, according to CBS News.</p>
<p>The Hennepin County Medical Center stated it received seven patients from the shooting, including one who died. A witness reported to KARE 11 that she was in the lobby of Loring Towers when she heard an argument followed by multiple gunshots, with one person being struck by gunfire. An alert from the University of St. Thomas indicated that a shooter was located and one person is in custody.</p>
<p>Several stretchers were observed being removed from the building, with some individuals appearing to have leg injuries.</p>
<p>The city advised residents to avoid the area from 12th Street to Franklin Ave. and from Hennepin to 3rd Ave. South to facilitate emergency response operations.</p>
<p>FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed that his agency is aware of the shooting involving law enforcement. He stated, “Our personnel are responding — we will offer any and all resources necessary to assist local authorities,” in a post on X.</p>
<p>Governor Tim Walz (D-MN) expressed gratitude for law enforcement's efforts to ensure safety in downtown Minneapolis, stating, “Minnesota is praying for our first responders.” He also mentioned that his public safety team is responding to the shooting and that state officials are on the ground to support local law enforcement.</p>
