Shooting in Downtown Minneapolis Leaves Two Dead and Several Injured

Two people are dead and at least five others were injured, including three police officers, after a shooting near 15 East Grant Street on September 2, 2026, in downtown Minneapolis, according to police. The suspected shooter is also deceased. City officials are advising the public to avoid the area from 12th Street to Franklin Avenue and Hennepin Avenue to Third Avenue South as they gather information. Four other individuals were taken to a nearby hospital, where one person later died. The shooter died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, sources informed WCCO. While officials do not yet know the motive for the shooting, sources indicated that the suspect had been evicted from his apartment earlier that day. Shawn Mosby, whose daughter was helping a friend move into the apartment complex, described the situation as chaotic, stating that residents inside were hearing banging and shooting.
