<p>Minnesota authorities reported that two individuals were killed and several others injured, including three police officers, following a shooting in downtown Minneapolis on September 2, 2026.</p>
<p>The suspect was killed, and the three officers are in stable condition, according to the Hennepin County Medical Center. Two of the officers sustained gunshot wounds.</p>
<p>The incident occurred near 15 E. Grant St., the location of Loring Towers, a high-rise apartment building. The police response focused on the eighth floor of the apartment complex, where officers armed with long guns monitored the situation for an extended period. Two heavily armored SWAT vehicles were positioned at the intersection, and ambulances were present in the immediate area, as reported by CBS News.</p>
<p>The Hennepin County Medical Center indicated that it treated seven patients from the shooting but did not disclose their conditions. A witness told KARE 11 that she was in the lobby of Loring Towers when she heard an argument followed by multiple gunshots, and saw one person struck by gunfire. An alert from the University of St. Thomas indicated that a shooter was located and one person was in custody.</p>
<p>Several stretchers were observed being brought out of the building, with some individuals appearing to have leg injuries.</p>
<p>The city issued a press release advising the public to avoid the area between 12th Street and Franklin Ave., and from Hennepin to 3rd Ave. South, to facilitate emergency response operations.</p>
<p>FBI Director Kash Patel stated that the agency is aware of the shooting involving law enforcement. He noted, "Our personnel are responding — we will offer any and all resources necessary to assist local authorities," in a post on X.</p>
<p>Governor Tim Walz (D-MN) expressed gratitude to law enforcement for their efforts to ensure public safety in downtown Minneapolis. He stated, "Minnesota is praying for our first responders," and added that his public safety team is responding to the shooting and that state officials are on the ground to support local law enforcement.</p>
