Two Dead, Two Police Officers Injured in Minneapolis Shooting Incident

<p>At least two people are dead, and several others were wounded in a shooting on Wednesday at a high-rise apartment building in downtown Minneapolis. The suspected gunman also died, according to law enforcement.</p><p>Three Minneapolis police officers were injured during the response. One officer sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg, another is undergoing surgery after being shot, and a third officer suffered a non-life-threatening injury unrelated to gunfire, according to authorities.</p><p>The shooting occurred after police responded to a domestic disturbance involving the suspect at an apartment building near 15 East Grant Street. A source informed KSTP that the suspect had been evicted from their apartment earlier on Wednesday.</p><p>Authorities have not disclosed a suspected motive for the shooting.</p><p>When officers entered the building, they encountered victims and heard additional gunfire, according to Sgt. Garrett Parten. Officers followed the sound to an upper floor, where they encountered a haze that significantly limited visibility.</p><p>“Inside, officers encountered victims and heard additional gunfire. Several media outlets are reporting that it was a suicide.</p><p>“Pray for Minnesota,” Democratic Governor Tim Walz stated on X.</p><p>FBI Director Kash Patel mentioned that he was aware of the shooting and would provide “any and all resources necessary to assist local authorities.”</p><p>Aerial video showed a heavy police response in Minnesota, including SWAT vehicles surrounding the downtown building.</p><p>“Minnesota is grateful to all of our first responders who answered the call in Minneapolis this afternoon,” Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan said in a statement. “My family and I are praying for a swift recovery for the officers involved in the shooting.”</p><p><i>This is a developing story.</i></p>
